Sunday (Tuesday 3/19/24)
On Sundays I reflect. Sunday was my 34th birthday so I guess I’m a bit late here.
I definitely drank alcohol this weekend. Saturday night we bounced around the village and I got a pretty nice buzz on. Yesterday on the hill we were drinking beers and got some fast hot laps. A few friends traveled up to Vail for the weekend to celebrate and some of my local friends met up with us as well. I had a great day riding and it was nice to have a DD and be able to drink responsibly this weekend.
Usually I spend my birthday in NYC for the last decade since living there. This year I had too much going on for the annual East Coast pilgrimage. I feel extremely blessed to have my backup plan be snowboarding with friends at Vail. A friend got us a reservation at a private club on the mountain for lunch, and the buffet was next level as always.
This year I’m focused on quitting smoking, among other choices for making my life healthier. I’ve become more mindful of the people I spend my time around, and I’m focused on building healthier relationships as I learn more about myself through therapy. I’m also getting back into working out in the mornings. I’ve been reading more. I’m trying to be more aware of my unhealthy patterns and behaviors, and to make a real change in my life.
I’ve been on the torch this week and I’m making sure to make that part of my regular routine, even when I’m busy.
Last year was my boro year; 33. I experienced tremendous growth during that year in ways I couldn’t imagine before it came. It was a challenging year. I’m still adjusting to many of the changes that occurred in my life.
I’m struggling to find the words to take this update any further, but I’m sure I’ll be able to share more next weekend. For now I’m exhausted and need to catch up on some rest.
