Sunday 9/22/24

September 22, 2024

On Sundays I reflect.

I didn’t drink alcohol this week. I must have been so busy I don’t even remember being tempted.

I got to see old friends and clients this week on their visit to the mountains. We had fallen out of touch for a year or more so it was a nice surprise to hear from them and get to catch up. After years of them visiting the studio in its former iteration it felt good to be able to show them our expansion and finally the gallery.

I did a fair bit of driving this week and found myself with an afternoon in Aspen and a day in Denver. I got to make the Aspen Art Gallery rounds and see a few friends before treating myself to a coffee at Paradise Bakery.

I can usually pass on Denver but Eric and I found a bougie bagel place with a good breakfast sandwich. We reminisced on a deli experience we shared in New York City that was straight out of a Seinfeld episode. A team was filming in the deli without permission and had the entire room yelling at them in a chaotic scene. We were after the film crew in line, putting us right in the middle of the action.

The colors are changing up here. We have gorgeous shades of yellow patches popping up. I guess it’s fall. It’s starting to snow up high so winter is certainly coming.

A lot of my week was spent prepping for our first corporate group at the studio next month. I was contacted by the event coordinator and so far we have almost 40 people coming to try glass blowing, another 30 or so coming for clay, and another 30 that will do a paint and sip workshop. I’ve been booking friends and colleagues to help with instructing and preparing glass blanks for students.

At the studio, our team is preparing for a Halloween party, a holiday market, and another round of workshops in November. I am thrilled to be working with the artists that are at Bat Country Studios. It took a long time to grow the space and build this team. I’m grateful for their support.

I didn’t get much time on the torch this week, but I spent the time I had creating a cup for my dude OLDGREED to carve for his upcoming show at Purple Haze on October 4.

As always I wish I could share more here but I need to get over to Vail for the Sunday Market. After today we have two more Sundays left but it’s been a great Summer season and hopefully we’ll be back on the lineup next summer.

Enjoy your Sunday,

BB
