On Sundays I reflect.
I had about half of two beers this week in Aspen. I’m glad I kept it to that.
It was Aspen Art Week.
I’m so glad I spent the week in Aspen! There was so much going on, more than any previous summer’s art week over there.
In addition to the Intersect Art Fair, the Art Museum held programming all week and then for the first time ever a new show called the Aspen Art Fair took place at the historic Hotel Jerome.
I was invited to bring work to show at the Soho House popup party by my friend Naiya. It was a real honor and a privilege to have work in such a place.
I attended a private home tour for which I was approved at the last minute. After rushing to be on time I realized I forgot business cards. The homeowner and host ultimately called me out in jest in front of a large group for not having business cards, exclaiming someone should teach me how to conduct business.
Upon making it to the fairs I found a piece from an artist that I have been hunting for some time. Special thanks to Guy at Rusha & Co for helping me acquire such a special piece. Congratulations on the New York Times coverage and I look forward to working with you in the future!
There is just too much to share here and not enough time so I’ll slam out some details that feel important.
I accidentally stole someone’s campsite up towards Independence Pass on the first night. Thankfully when we woke up to each other he was cool about it. I might be the only person who attended the fair and also slept in the car.
I got to attend the Allison Katz art talk at the Museum about her current show which is really a must see titled “In The House Of The Trembling Eye”. It was incredible. Both the talk and the show.
I helped set up a popup show in the courtyard of the Jerome between everything else and got to meet a great team. Thank you Eric, Rob, Naiya, Thaiara, and Eric for including me.
On one occasion Naiya got locked out of her hotel but thankfully my car was basically a bed in the back seat so we crashed in a parking lot for a few hours before being let in.
It was a good bonding experience full of laughs, and exactly the type of riff raff that would be the antithesis of Aspen.
We checked out some nightlife and ate some good food. I do really love Aspen.
I spent some time with my folks in Vail this week making a day trip to Piney Lake and enjoying meals together. Yesterday we attended Shabbat services on top of Vail Mountain where Michelle and Coleen and their band shared some beautiful music in a very special venue with unmatched views.
Now I’m getting ready for the market and while I want to share more it’s time for me to get moving.
Thank you to everyone who made this week so special.
I’m feeling inspired and excited.
As always enjoy your Sunday,
BB
