Sunday 8/24/25

August 24, 2025

On Sundays I reflect.

I didn’t drink alcohol this week, unless you count a single sip of wine at dinner with Ian.

Ian came back up from Austin Texas to work with Twinkle Ron this week. They are bringing to life Ron’s visions from a background in the hot shop and with ceramics through the medium of flameworked glass.

We all learned a lot from this class.

Last night I took Ian to Aspen to see my friend Christina’s first ever ceramic show at the Aspen Collective Gallery. I’ve wanted a piece from this artist and series since I first saw her work online. I must have been on to something, because when we arrived not two hours after the show opened, nearly everything had sold.

Christina’s work is about embracing the imperfections. After spending a week with Twinkle who claimed he “never made a piece you could cook a can of beans in” it was the perfect state of mind with which to view Christina’s work.

I mentioned last week that in Vail our art scene has momentum. We also attended the Third Thursday Block Party and Art Walk in the village this week. I counted at least a dozen serious local artists in attendance, and tried to engage with all of them.

My friend Andrew Pranger had two of his paintings acquired by a local philanthropist who has been donating public art to the town of Vail. He asked Andrew to hang his painting at his home, next to an original Andy Warhol painting.

So things are getting exciting in the mountains of Colorado as pertaining to the arts. I’m excited to be a part of it all.

The buzz is getting around town about Jen Stark’s upcoming residency at our studio. We have been prepping for that in the background leading up to a week of collaboration next month.

Today we’re back at the Vail Sunday Market which means I’m writing this blog extremely early this morning. After finally bringing this back to action last weekend, I now remember what it feels like to be committed to a process and see it through.

Trust me, I’d rather be sleeping right now.

I should also take a moment to wish a happy birthday to my friend Lindsey. Thanks for being a friend I can rely on, and I’m so excited to celebrate your birthday tonight!

So now I need to get on with my day. It feels good to be writing again, and thank you for tuning in. I’ve got a lot more to share in the coming weeks.

Enjoy your Sunday,

BB
