Sunday 7/7/24

July 07, 2024

On Sundays I reflect.

I didn’t drink alcohol this week. It’s been a while and it feels good, with very few if any temptations.

I spent all of yesterday in bed. I was burnt out but feeling rejuvenated.

Today was our fourth Vail Market. They’re letting us blow glass in the middle of the Vail Village and we’re drawing huge crowds. It’s great to be able to share our art with the community.

The gallery buildout is almost complete and if all is finished on time we should be having our grand opening on Saturday July 20. It’s been overwhelming and exhausting but we are close to the light at the end of the tunnel.

My parents are coming to visit and I’m looking forward to being able to spend time with them in the mountains. I might even get to make a quick trip to Gunnison with them to clear my head a bit and get out of town for a night.

I’ve been driving a lot, and made a few trips to Aspen recently where I saw some amazing art. Mind blowing really.

Then Friday there was an art show at the Vail International Gallery for painter Don Sahli who does oil paintings mostly landscapes. It was a wildly impressive show and I’ll be visiting again before it leaves the gallery.

Mark the gallerist will be joining me on Tuesday at Two Arrows in Vail for an art talk about the gallery perspective and advice for artists. I’m super grateful for the support Mark has shown me and the studio and for his willingness to share his insight with the community.

I’ve been listening to Free by EMZ, Nasser UK, and Valor for some heavy drum n bass vibes.

My friend and one of my favorite artists Jen Stark made yet another awesome art trade with me this week for her new tote bags and they just arrived. Finally I have a briefcase for Business Ben.

Last thing I want to share here is that in my free time (which hardly exists) I’ve finally gotten the courage to tackle my most ambitious project in glass. I’m replicating my favorite soft glass series in Boro and pushing myself to go bigger than most of my previous work.

As always thanks for tuning in,

BB
