On Sundays I reflect.
I drank some beers on my birthday this week. It’s been over a year since I made the choice to drink, and now I’ll resume choosing not to drink. It’s better when I don’t drink, but on some very rare occasions I do.
I was too busy with the studio party last Sunday to write my blog but it’s been an incredible two weeks.
I took almost a week off driving to celebrate my birthday, but last week I drove every day. Now I’m back in the car until the end of the season, which is coming sooner than later.
It’s been 75 and sunny here in Vail.
Last Friday I met Jen and Ian in Denver for Marble Conference where we premiered Jen’s second release of glass art. We had a blast seeing friends and introducing Jen to the community. She even won a marble race!
On our way home we made a stop in Evergreen to show Jen Everdream and Alex Ubatuba’s studio. She’s really going down the glass rabbit hole.
The three of us went to the Apres Ski patio party at the Ritz, and we enjoyed the spa last Saturday when we got back up the hill.
Sunday was probably the most fun studio party I have ever thrown. Eusheen got on the torch with us and Robert Burch fired up the furnace. Friends from all over came by and the local arts scene really showed up. I also need to specially thank Lindsey and Krysta for prepping food so we didn’t have to think about it or leave the studio.
Monday I had to get in the car for a run while Ian took Jen to warmup on her snowboard at Vail. She’s connecting heel side to toe side and getting better with every run.
Tuesday was my birthday and also St. Patrick’s day. We met a big group at the mountain for some laps before an incredible lunch at a club up top. It was such a special time to be with nearly twenty of my friends. After lunch we made our way to the annual Ravinos ski club initiation where we watched the prospects and members send back flips off a huge cliff called the Wailer. It was as always incredible.
We all had so much fun. I got to celebrate my birthday for most of a week, with people who mean the world to me. I can’t express how special it was to spend my birthday with friends and artists I love.
Thank you to everyone who made my birthday so special!
A few days ago we released the remaining work from Jen’s second batch of glass objects on her website. There are still some marbles and other objects available and I want to thank everyone who purchased wok in the presale, at MibCon, and on the website. We all appreciate your support in this new project.
I want to write more about growing up and turning 36 but I need to get ready for more driving.
Thank you again to everyone who made my birthday so special. It was truly one of the best weeks of my life.
Enjoy your Sunday,
BB
