On Sundays I reflect.
I didn’t drink alcohol this week. That’s cool. Not drinking feels like a major part of my life.
I did get on my snowboard twice this week. It feels like spring here in Vail but Monday I got a little powder on the two runs that are open so far. It felt good to ride at 180BPM down the mountain again.
I’m still on the drum n bass kick.
We began moving in Robert Burch this week, with his hot shop. The Minturn Maker Space now has a resident soft glass artist. I never thought that would happen but here we are.
I got on the torch this week amidst everything else. I made some fume cups and some twisty cups. Everything I had time to make has already sold. What a feeling!
Our new Vail Art Studio in town has acquired two of my cups for the kitchenette and is wrapping up their first residency with local painter Gus. On Friday I attended the reception where Gus talked about his residency and his art, filling the walls with the work he created during the last few weeks. There is a noticeable growth in his work, which I have seen in the decade we have both been here in Vail and working on our art alongside each other.
The next few weeks and months are exciting for me. Ski season is here. Artists and friends are planning trips to Vail. I’m working on some of the biggest projects of my life.
Thanksgiving will be a bit of a pause for me from work as it always is. A much needed calm before the storm.
