On Sundays I reflect.
I haven’t had any alcohol in a few weeks, and I also haven’t been writing this blog. I guess things just got busy. It’s still better when I don’t drink.
I did get Covid last week which had me down for a bit, and got us behind at the studio. We had to cancel our popup in Denver last weekend, so today we are hosting an online live stream popup on Instagram to share all the fresh cups with you. I am bummed we had to cancel the popup but ultimately it was more important not to get people sick.
Kieran “Diet Glass” came up to collaborate a few weeks ago and we have a fully worked cup to share with you today on the live stream. After his visit my dude Ian “Holdin Golden” came through and we made another fully worked Collab that already found a home. There will be fresh work from Ian and his shopmate Geoff in the popup today as well as a three way Collab from all of us and a four way Collab with Geoff’s partner Dani which they put together after we started them on my recent trip to Austin Texas.
Unrelated to glass, Friday was opening day at Vail. I got there early to be on the Gondola as soon as it started running at 9am. I got about 5 laps in before 10:30am when the runs were tracked out and I headed to the studio. It felt great to be back on my board, now we need some more snow so they can open more terrain!
My latest art acquisition arrived this week to my surprise. I was expecting it to take longer as it shipped from the Netherlands via broker Avant Arte. The piece is Jen Stark’s first glass sculpture release “Dichroic Mandala” and fits perfectly with my collection of her work alongside my glass art collection.
We are getting ready for the holidays and this year my team will help with Black Friday so I can spend Thanksgiving with my family. I’ll head straight from there to Miami for Art Week and Basel before returning to the mountains and ski season. It’s about to be a whirlwind before the year ends, and it’s been a hell of a year.
I’ve spoken with a few of my friends who own their businesses about holiday gifts for their staff. I’m grateful for the friends who have supported me in buying their holiday gifts from us, and if you think your staff deserves to step up their cups this holiday season please reach out to me about some of the deals I am offering for the holidays. We’re also here for your holiday gift shopping for friends and family and appreciate everyone’s support this holiday season!
We are finishing up another Ash Tray sculpture which will be available soon. If you have been waiting to own a piece from this collection please reach out to discuss the next available concept or the other ideas we have on deck. Working on these with OLDGREED and Red Cliff Bob has been a highlight of my year and I am excited to keep moving forward with that project.
Before I head into the studio to get ready for the live stream I’ll share one more piece of exciting news. Recently I found my dream couch at the Habitat for Humanity restore here in the mountains. The floral 1/1 couch is now the centerpiece in The Annex, our studio expansion. This is a major studio upgrade so comfortable it might have you napping when you visit Bat Country Studios.
Now I need to get ready and head in to the studio. Everyone who scoops a cup today will get our brand new stickers created by JCOST and we look forward to hanging with you on the Instagram Livestream.
Thanks for tuning in, and enjoy your Sunday!
