Sunday 1/23/22

On Sundays I reflect.

I did not drink alcohol this week. I didn’t even have time to think about having a drink this week.

What a week!

Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m. I was on Good Morning Vail promoting the upcoming 5th annual Vail Cup Collectors Club. Yeah I know the flyer says 4th annual, but after further calculations with my dude JCOST we realized this is the 5th. It’s hard to believe, especially for the ten or fifteen people that were in attendance at the first year of the show. The studio is hardly recognizable and the event has really evolved as well. I am more excited than I have ever been for this year’s show.

Then today we were in the local newspaper after they interviewed me earlier this week to promote the show. VIP tickets sold out almost right away, but GA tickets are still available for the show and selling to new people I haven’t ever interacted with which is even more exciting!

One day this week I was up for 20 hours straight working with a brief hour acupuncture session in the middle. Marta and I mostly laugh through those days as one after another things just keep piling on my plate. Without Marta’s help I don’t think I could tackle what comes my way in a day.

My friends OLDGREED and Jessica Ivy came up to paint this week, and Log came back to collaborate on some cups and make me some fresh solo stuff. Tonight I made a bubble trap twister with Rob’s work in the booty and it “sold before its cold” as we say. Yesterday Rob and I made a fully worked composition notebook collaboration pint with his linework that will be available very soon at Glass Vegas.

Our studio expansion is almost complete. Jeremy and Marta spent time painting this week and we only have a few edges left to paint (hopefully this week). Mike Page installed wood base trim around the room and then we started putting furniture into place. My friend Jess began her sharpie doodle mural on the trim around the door and she will pick it back up during the show as part of her live performance.

Everything is coming together.

I was too busy to write this morning, and between work today I had to take a nap. It is weird to write this at night but I am committed to keeping up with this blog. Today was a great day of Sunday Specials at the studio with lots of cups finding new homes including a bunch of freshies that never even made it to the website. Be on the lookout for the two Digger crystal tourmaline cups that didn’t sell!

I have not been snowboarding this week but I have been on the torch almost every day. It should snow sometime this week and I will get back on my board but until then it’s crunch time. I finished a collaboration with prep from Shen for Glass Vegas and have my own prep ready for a few more special collaborations on deck I hope to get finished on time. I am also expecting Snic at the studio later next week so we can get in a collaboration for my show and maybe one for Glass Vegas as well. This will be my first time collaborating with Snic after knowing him for years he finally made his first solo mug for the upcoming show. He also made a pair of shot glasses I will be releasing when he gets to town this week for our first official release together.

Slowly but surely all of the artists on this year’s lineup for the VCCC have been sending me their submissions and I have to admit it has been hard not to share this stuff with you!

So let’s see how many people read the late night edition of my Sunday Reflections. Sorry it’s brief, but I don’t think I can stay awake much longer. I hope you’ve all enjoyed your Sundays and as always thanks for tuning in!
