Sunday Reflections: Quarantine - Week I

March 22, 2020

On Sundays I reflect.

I didn’t drink alcohol this week.

The Twilight Zone

I hope by now we’re mostly all quarantined, as to prevent the further spreading of this virus. I’ve been going to the studio and driving some delivery for a friend’s local restaurant. It’s been slow, but I want to help out my friend and my community in this time of need. We use gloves and I drop the food on people’s porches as to avoid direct contact.

The feeling is strange. I feel like I’m in the twilight zone. I don’t interact with too many people on a daily basis normally, but now the number is noticeably low. The few people I do interact with, keep their distance. I think it’s going to be like this for at least a few months.

I’ve been reading the news as often as possible. I’ve read that with this sudden change in lifestyle emissions are down and there are already noticeable effects. I am optimistic that this will open people’s eyes to the damage we are causing our planet. I’m not sure what that will mean moving forward. How could I imagine our entire population changing their behavior? I never imagined what this would look like in my lifetime, aside from stories I’ve read and movies I’ve seen.

Our president is an embarrassment, first claiming that he takes no responsibility for what’s happening and later praising himself for doing such a good job of handling the situation. He’s lied over and over to the American people and the world. He has mismanaged this situation which will cost many people their lives. He is simply unfit to lead.

So What Can We Do?

We must isolate ourselves. This seems to be clear. We should support local independent businesses who need our support more than ever. If you have the option to order food from a locally owned restaurant instead of fast food, please do it. If you can shop locally please do it. Your community needs you!

Artists are struggling now more than ever. If you are still earning income and would like to support the artists we represent, you can shop on this site or message me about other ways you can be supportive. If you have extra food and toilet paper and would like to be connected with an artist in your local community in need feel free to reach out and I’ll help figure out the best way to connect you.

While we are quarantined, I’ll do my best to keep content coming. We’re working on some more artist interviews and daily content on the feed. In the meantime, you can check out a great show on Netflix called “The Office” that I have been playing on repeat for over a decade.

I’m also working on a Spotify playlist with a correlating blog post where I dive deep on the tracks I’m sharing with you. Special shoutout to my brother Jonathon for helping with that.

Stay healthy, and please minimize physical contact.
