On Sundays I reflect.
I didn’t drink alcohol this week but I did have a non alcoholic beer. I honestly couldn’t tell it wasn’t a real beer.
I’ve been listening to “Movement And Location” by the Punch Brothers on repeat this week. I read that the song was inspired by the pitcher Greg Maddux.
I spent some time on the torch this week making doodads and chatychkes.
I ended up in Denver unexpectedly one morning when my clients plans changed. I took a few meetings and stopped by Everdream to catch up with Taffy and Ubatuba and a few other artists who were around. Next weekend I’ll be returning for the open house at Sattelite 6 so hopefully I’ll get to see some of you there.
We hosted an open house for artists at the studio on Thursday. This will be a weekly thing, so feel free to come by any Thursday for some arts community and collaboration.
I had a meeting with Red Cliff Bob. We sat on his porch eating salad. It’s kind of like a time warp out there in Red Cliff. At some point along the drive there is no reception and the views are just breathtaking. I always think to myself “I’m going over the river and through the woods into my backyard.” Then comes the abandoned mining town of Gilman on the side of the cliff. Next is the huge green bridge at the entrance to town. After the bridge is a dirt road that wraps back around to the back entrance and Bob’s house.
It’s straight out of a fairy tale.
The real Wild West, just 20 minutes from Bat Country Studios.
Red Cliff Bob is a rare type of artist. He doesn’t have a cell phone. He makes whatever the fuck he wants. His work is unlike any other art I have ever seen. He says he does it for his mental health.
I saw some animals this week. Among them, the hawks stand out. I think they’re hawks. From my research they could also be vultures of eagles but they’re definitely bigger than birds and not owls.
As much as I want to keep going with this stream of consciousness I need to get to the market.
As always thanks for tuning in,
BB
