On Sundays I reflect.
I had a beer Friday at the Woody Creek Tavern with the burger I ordered for breakfast. Then they almost kicked me out for rolling up on the bar. I had asked permission first but there was some confusion. Hunter would be turning in his grave.
I pulled out my composition notebook with my friend the artist who was recently diagnosed with Hairy Cell Leukemia. I started writing at the Woody Creek Tavern and looked back to the beginning where my first entry references the great doctor of journalism himself. My friend told me that he’s finishing a piece which he wants me to have, but I like his older work better. One way or another a trade is in order.
I attended an incredible show at the Aspen Art Museum curated by Allison Katz. I need to go back for more time with the work but I am feeling inspired.
Then I went to my friend Robert Burch’s art show in Carbondale featuring his new mobiles comprised of metal, rocks, and glass. This stuff is mind blowing.
I spent a lot of this week driving clients to get more funds together for the studio expansion and gallery buildout while Stan and Nuben worked on painting the gallery.
In between a Denver dropoff and pickup we made it by the Flex espresso mug show at the new Purple Haze. It’s so exciting to see these other popups happening in the borosilicate drinkware space.
I have some clients who have been huge supporters over the years. Recently they replaced a car which they are now selling to me. It’s been almost a decade driving the Red Rover but she hit 200k miles and it’s time for me to let her go. These clients are giving me a very good deal on their old highlander which will be a more affordable and reliable vehicle for me. I am so grateful for their continued support and glad they have returned for the summer in Vail. If you are interested in purchasing my Land Rover it is officially for sale.
I’m tossing around some ideas for non functional conceptual art. I’m also planning to revisit a product I haven’t made in years since I got frustrated with the results. I’m feeling inspired and motivated to create more, and have been spending more time on the torch between everything else.
I’ve been having a hard time lately in my personal life, working through challenging projects and self growth. Thank you to everyone who has been patient with me lately and always. My team has been a huge support around the studio. Sometimes it all gets overwhelming for me but I’m relieved to know there are people who share my vision and believe in helping me bring it to life.
I have so much more to write about here but I slept in today and need to get my day moving. As always thanks for tuning in and being a part of my journey.
Enjoy your Sunday,
BB
