On Sundays I reflect.
I didn't drink alcohol this week. One time a friend of mine referred to these essays as "that thing you write to pat yourself on the back for not drinking?" Maybe that's all this is.
My brother is here for a long weekend. We went snowboarding yesterday at Vail, where it was soft slushy snow all over and too warm for all our winter gear. Spring is certainly here.
I've gotten on the torch most days this week. I'm trying to build up inventory of the new scalloped cups for some orders I got this week. Rob @logglass has been making wig wags and honeycombs to go in the bottoms of some cups, and we've been having fun putting those together.
My dude Jeremy @oldgreed is coming up today to hang out at the studio and make some art. Jeremy created the largest mural in my studio, a portrait of Hunter S. Thompson in his signature LEPR style. Jeremy is a true artist and I'm glad we got connected by a mutual collector we share in Chicago. I'm looking forward to creating with him today.
I've been listening to a lot of Pinback lately. I suggest listening to them.
As I write this, I'm watching the sun rise over Beaver Creek from my bed. It's truly a beautiful day again, and I'm feeling grateful.
Maybe I should start incorporating a CUPDATE into this blog post. In this week's CUPDATE, Ned Glassman @nedglassman $100 pints are sold out but I've got plenty of Jason Gordon @gordons_glassware $100 fumed pints. Andrew Gandersman @qfactorglass wig wag pints are on the way along with a fully worked mug. I added a bunch of Blake Wingard @glass_by_blake Sunflower Series to the shop, and I'll be adding more artists this weekend. I just got edits back from Reda @rruokyte.photo and we're already planning our next shoot.
I'm talking with a few friends about coming out to work at my studio over the next few months. There are a number of glass artists I worked with while living on the road a few years back, that I would love to be able to work with again now that my life and work environment have become more stable. I've got two regular renters at the studio, but there is more space for day rental as well as long term. If you are an artist interested in working in the mountains for a day or a month, feel free to contact me about options and availability. I want to especially extend an invitation to any of the artists who put me up or gave me a place to work when I needed it. I'm full of gratitude for these people, and would not have made it here without them.
What's coming up? I was planning another art event for this month, but my team had to postpone. Once a few issues are worked out, we're hoping to produce our first event in a new location that can accommodate much more than my studio.
