On Sundays I reflect.
I didn’t drink alcohol this week. It’s better when I don’t.
Today is closing day at Vail, so I’m heading up for a few last laps of the season and a big party on the decks this afternoon. It’s been the best ski season of my life. I got around 40 days on my snowboard before injuring my rib a few weeks ago. Recovery is going well thankfully.
A few days ago was 420 and also the Wook Show in Denver. I’ll never forget my first 420 in high school getting stoned with my friends. We laughed for hours over the dumbest things, and we had a blast.
Then in college there was the 420 my Sophomore year, when I won a raffle for a hookah bong at the local head shop. I met the artists who made the piece I won and they became my glass teachers. Shoutout Huffy and Bob T!
On Thursday before Wook Show this year we met up with our Denver squad for a Cup Collectors Lunch. Almost 20 of us showed up, wearing DV sweaters and joggers, beanies and shirts. Most people brought their own cups, and I had at least one extra EWGG from the drive down I was able to lend a friend. We secured a few tables in a food hall where everyone could order what they wanted, and people could come and go as their schedules allowed. One friend may have been yelled at for rolling a joint inside, but it was 420 after all.
We got to the Wook Show early and were close to the front of the line. Once they opened the doors we went inside for the most impressive glass display of the year, in a warehouse that was completely hot boxed all afternoon. The sesh was lit!
I’ve been torching as much as I can this week, getting ready for our Connecticut Cup Collectors Club at Stoked on May 6. VIP tickets will be available after their “Weekend With Banjo” and we can’t wait to see so many of you in Bridgeport! I’ve never been more excited for a Cup Collectors Club!
I have a few more things on my plate to get made before Connecticut. There are a few collaborations I’ve been prepping for, and I will be making one fully worked solo cup. Admittedly I don’t know exactly what I’m going to make for my solo cup, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out this week.
There is probably a lot more to share, but I am eager to go see my friends at Vail and get my last laps of the season on the hill.
