Started Working with Glass:

BBQ Handmade Glass Coffee Cup

"I started working with glass 6 months after getting hired at Mountain Glass Arts. I always had an interest in glass art, mostly hot shop work, but had a great opportunity to try lampworking. They helped me get my first studio so I could work in my home studio. By learning lampworking, I gained product knowledge that I was able to pass along to customers and to MGA staff."

Not only can Gina sculpt any fruit or veggies, she also varies them through different stages in their ripened life cycle. Back when I was traveling, Gina put me up in her guest room for a month when I had nowhere else to go. It was there that we created the notorious Banana Mug, which has since been kidnapped (last seen in Southern Florida, please contact immediately if found!). I met Andrew on his first day blowing glass. He assisted me in pulling down a vac stack on the lathe, with no experience blowing glass. For reference, this is one of the hottest and more difficult techniques. Instantly, we bonded as we learned to make a production line for Huffy together, and ultimately became roommates in Bloomington, Indiana. Andrew is one of my favorite people to work with, and one of the most talented glass artists I've met.
